If tragic attacks by terrorists are one form of waking up America, we must realize that they are not the only instruments that God can use. God has allowed not only military, but “natural disasters” to bring such a herald of impending judgment. We stand at a very crucial time in history, where the urgency of getting the Gospel to every creature has never been more serious.
HOW REAL ARE THE TERRORIST THREATS ?
Most Americans have had their heads in the sand for many years regarding the possibility of terrorist attacks on this continent. As a result, precautions taken by other countries, including widespread instruction for use of “safe-rooms,” use of gas-masks, and the taking of radiation-rejecting medications are almost unknown here. Most European countries have provided at least their “essential personnel” with training and supplies to help them survive many types of terrorist attacks.
Information given in this paper is the latest available. This is information given to you—and is not widely distributed because some people—even Christians—have been so ill-equipped to handle a last days scenario that it could cause them depression, or push them further into denial of what we now can see is a very real threat.
At the present time, the intelligence agencies of several countries have confirmed that there are well over 200 trained terrorists in the USA from the al-Qaido ring of Muslim radicals, (This is the organization which works closely with Osama Bin Laden), and over 1000 scattered throughout the world.” Almost all of them have a specialty which when given a sign from a superior, will be used to bring another phase of terror to the US.
Early on September 22, 2001, one terrorist in the mid-West was found with manuals on the operation and mechanical repair of crop dusting aircraft. More evidence of crop-dusting with biological deadly materials has been uncovered in Florida. For a long period of time, the US military insisted that although they knew that terrorists had access to Anthrax and other bio-weapons, they did not feel they had the delivery systems to get them into the atmosphere where they would be spread for up to a thousand miles. Now, they acknowledge that they were wrong.
A recent unclassified map showing nuclear sites in the US which were being protected now by the National Guard omitted some major terrorist targets, including the Turkey Point Nuclear Complex just south of Miami. How hard would it be for a terrorist to cause a nuclear melt-down which would release a cloud of radioactive gas that would contaminate up to 1000 miles ? It would be relatively easy. Even if the site was protected on the ground with soldiers, and from the air with periodic fly-overs by F-15’s, it would be simple. There are several municipal airports just minutes from these sites. An airplane laden with high explosives could take off, fly low, and—if the pilot has studied nuclear plant constructions sites—the plane would be aimed to crash into the cooling towers, resulting in the beginning of a nuclear disaster. All that could be done within minutes, and before anyone would be able to react.
We have all heard of the nuclear suit-case bombs. Terrorists have these concealed, not as suit-cases—but as boxes containing equipment, large packages containing, say, a dishwasher. It is considered highly probably by experts in the field, that these are already in place, awaiting an electronic signal to detonate the nuclear device inside. Where is a likely place ? In a city where unfinished or unoccupied apartments exist in abundance. What would be ideal for the terrorist, would be a place in a high-rise building. He could deliver the crate—using an authentic dishwasher box—to an apartment where occupancy is expected, but is not imminent.
Contrary to what many believe, such a bomb would be equivalent to only a tactic nuclear weapon, such as those mounted on US weapons. Probably no larger than a 1 kiloton warhead, this bomb would still be able to level almost every building within a five-mile radius, and produce a toxic cloud that would range as far as 1000 miles from the detonation point, spueing deadly radiation for months along its’ path.
Most people have taken extreme positions regarding terrorism and the capabilities of terrorists. On one hand, some believe that there is no chance for survival. That is wrong. Taking the right precautions, many people will be able to survive the plans of the terrorists. On the other hand, there are many who want to believe that terrorists have said all they want to say, and they will not do anything so dramatic as the WTC bombing again.
The fact is, terrorists are people committed to a cause—an ungodly one. They are motivated by a strong—and wrong—belief. To suggest that they will all be caught, or they will all change their minds about destroying the people and country of the United States is naïve. From childhood they have been indoctrinated and prepared for “their finest moment” (according to their teachers). They have lived, breathed, trained, and been focused on their work. They will not be dissuaded by a few arrests, a few failures, or temporary set-backs.
We must take diligent measures for the safety of our families and our brethren in the Lord so that the work of God can continue—all the way up to the time when the Lord returns.
