In the event of a terrorist attack which involves our home location, or a natural disaster which threatens your wellbeing (if you stay at home), all church members at Solid Rock Bible Church will be received at the church facilities (if possible).
HOW DO I KNOW IF I SHOULD GO TO THE CHURCH ?
In the event of a natural disaster, or other tragedy, you should call the church immediately. A command center will be set up designed to provide you with up to the minute information on what you can do.
HOW CAN I COMMUNICATE WITH THE CHURCH IF THE PHONE LINES ARE DOWN ?
1. First, DO try to reach the church by phone. In the event that you hear the phone ring, but no one answers, and the answering machine does not engage, the lines are probably inoperative.
2. If you have a cell-phone, try reaching the church that way.
3. If that fails, you should use the CB radios, as recommended by the Crisis Team at the church. Use Channel 7 or 21, and call for "SRBC." Repeat your call often until someone answers. We will be broadcasting information from the church by means of CB if the phones are inoperative. Even if you are not heard, you should be able to hear the broadcast of informative instructions from the church since we will be using a more powerful CB system.
4. If unable to use a CB, in most cases it is advisable to stay inside your home, and someone will come to check on you.
WHAT CAN I DO RIGHT NOW TO PREPARE FOR EMERGENCIES ?
1. Prepare yourself spiritually. The Bible tells us that things will get worse and worse in the days before Jesus comes, so don't be surprised by anything. In fact, learn to expect to have many opportunities to show the Lord's help in times of crisis.
2. Prepare a small box of canned goods, and keep it in a readily accessible place, possibly even near a door of your house. Think of things you might need to eat for two or three days. Consider what special dietary needs you might have. Will you need dietetic sugar ? Powdered milk ? Sweets ? Low-salt foods ? Make sure you bring small amounts of foods YOU and your family will need to live on for two or three days. Remember: NO FOODS THAT REQUIRE REFRIGERATION OR COOKING ! Don't forget that HAND OPERATED CAN OPENER, and something to eat with--DISPOSABLE FORKS, SPOONS, KNIVES.
3. Prepare a 'READY-BAG." This bag should already be packed, and waiting. It should consist of ESSENTIALS-ONLY which may be required during a two or three day stay away from home. Here are some suggested items:
BIBLE
FLASHLIGHTS & EXTRA BATTERIES. (DO NOT DEPEND ON CANDLES, AS THEY WILL DEPLETE THE OXYGEN IN A CROWDED ROOM).
ASPIRIN, OR OTHER MEDICATION YOU MAY NORMALLY REQUIRE.
1 ROLL OF PAPER TOWELS.
SEVERAL LARGE BATH TOWELS, WASH RAG, & SOAP.
A PILLOW.
ONE CHANGE OF CLOTHING.
SANITARY PRODUCTS.
MEDICATIONS THAT YOU USUALLY TAKE.
ANTIBIOTICS.
POTASSIUM IODIDE TABLETS.
LARGE 1 GALLON ZIP-LOCK BAGGIES.
2 OR 3 LARGE TRASH BAGS WITH TIES.
A CLOCK, OR WATCH.
**For those of you who want to come to the church, but are unable to do so because you do not have a means of transportation, the church has prepared a system to attempt to reach you, and bring you to the church. You should have the Food-Box, and Ready-Bag prepared to go out the door as soon as transportation arrives to pick you up.
**Please remember that when transportation to the church is provided, one vehicle may have to pick up several people, so the space available is limited. Do not ask to take more than one Food-Box, and one Ready-Bag. If you have pets, be sure to leave enough food around for them to eat for two or three days.
*A SUGGESTION:
Print out this page, and post it on your refrigerator, and begin putting these things together NOW. It might take a while to get everything you need, but getting started is a BEGINNING !
